We’ve put together a guide to caring for your Cawley pieces, helping you make the most of your investment and enjoy them for years to come.

Knitwear Care

Avoid unnecessary washing, wool is naturally resistant to odour and dirt.

We recommend airing your piece outside instead. When washing is necessary, hand wash carefully or use a cold, gentle knitwear cycle with a wool-approved detergent.

To dry, gently roll the garment in a towel to remove excess water, then lay flat on a drying rack away from direct heat.

Store your garment in the cotton dust bag provided. Never hang knitwear, as this can cause it to stretch or lose its shape. Fold and store flat instead.

Shearling Care

Shearling is naturally durable and designed to age beautifully with wear. With the right care, your piece can be enjoyed for many years.

Avoid unnecessary cleaning and never machine wash or dry clean your shearling.

If your piece becomes damp, gently shake off any excess water and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators, heaters and direct heat. Do not use a hairdryer, as heat can damage the leather.

For small marks, gently spot clean the affected area with a suede eraser. Avoid rubbing, soaking or using household cleaning products.

When not being worn, store your shearling in the cotton dust bag provided. Keep it somewhere cool, dry and well ventilated, away from direct sunlight and heat. Avoid storing it in plastic, as the leather needs to breathe.

Never iron or steam shearling.

Leather Care

Leather is a natural material that will soften and develop a beautiful patina with wear. Avoid unnecessary cleaning and handle your piece with care.

Protect your leather from prolonged exposure to rain and moisture. If it does become wet, gently wipe away any excess water with a soft, dry cloth and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat. Never use a hairdryer or place it near a radiator.

We recommend having your leather professionally cleaned or conditioned by a specialist when necessary. Always test any leather-care product on a small, concealed area first.

Do not iron or steam leather.

Silk Care

Silk is a delicate natural fibre that should be handled with care. Avoid unnecessary washing and air your garment between wears instead.

When washing is necessary, hand wash gently in cold water using a mild, silk-approved detergent, or have the garment professionally dry cleaned. Do not soak, wring or rub the garment, as this can damage the fibres and affect the colour.

To dry, gently press out excess water using a towel and lay flat or hang carefully to dry naturally, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not tumble dry.

Avoid ironing directly on the silk. If needed, iron on a low temperature on the reverse side, or use a steamer held at a safe distance.

Store your silk garment in the cotton dust bag provided, somewhere cool and dry. Avoid hanging bias-cut or delicate silk pieces for long periods, as they can stretch or lose their shape.
