Sustainability

Cawley was founded in 2017. From the beginning, our approach has centred on making considered pieces, with respect for the people and materials involved.

We design clothes to be worn often and kept for years. Familiar shapes evolve between collections, with an emphasis on texture, comfort and lasting construction.

Production

Our woven garments are made in London, our knitwear in Scotland and our jersey T-shirts in Japan. Each partnership brings specialist knowledge that shapes the finished garment.

We value these relationships and the experience behind every stage of production, from cutting and sewing to knitting and finishing.

Materials

We work exclusively with 100% natural fabrics, chosen for their character, feel and ability to age well. We source our materials from suppliers in the UK, Europe and Japan.

Shearling has been part of our collections from the beginning. We source our sheepskins from selected ethical tanneries in Turkey that are registered with Leather Working Group, and each garment is cut and sewn in London. Variations in texture and tone are part of the material’s character, making every piece individual.

Made to Order

Much of our collection is made to order, alongside small quantities available ready to ship. Making in response to orders helps us plan production carefully and limit excess stock.

Longevity

We want our clothes to become familiar parts of a wardrobe, returned to year after year. We consider how each garment will feel, function and wear over time.

We remain a small, independent studio, continually reviewing our materials and processes and learning from the people we work with.
