Bridal FAQ
Studio Appointments
How long are studio appointments and who can I bring?
Studio appointments last 60 minutes. If you are bringing guests, we kindly ask that you bring a maximum of two.
What should I wear and bring to my appointment?
We recommend wearing comfortable, close-fitting underwear and bringing the shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day, as we do not have bridal shoes available to try on in the studio. If you already have any accessories or a veil you would like to consider with your dress, you are welcome to bring these too.
How many appointments can I have and how much do they cost?
Your first bridal appointment is £75, which is deducted from the final cost of your order.
Additional appointments are charged at £40 per hour and are not deductible from your final order.
Where is the studio and can I have an appointment online?
Our studio is located in Deptford, South London.
If you are unable to travel to the studio, we can offer appointments online. We can show you the bridal collection on a model and guide you through taking your measurements so we can recommend the most suitable size.
Sizing
What size are the samples?
Our bridal samples range from UK 8–18. When booking your appointment, we ask you to let us know which styles you would like to try so we can make sure the appropriate sizes are available in the studio.
What sizes do you offer?
Our bridal collection is available in UK 6–22.
Can you make the garment to my specific measurements?
Our standard bridal pieces are made in your selected size, with complimentary adjustments to hem and sleeve length.
If you require the garment to be altered to specific measurements or require changes to the original pattern, this falls under our bespoke service and will be quoted separately.
Manufacturing & Lead Times
How long will my garment take to be made?
Our standard bridal lead time is 10 weeks from the date your order is placed.
Each piece is made to order, so we recommend placing your order as early as possible to allow plenty of time for your fitting and any final alterations.
Where are the garments made?
Our bridal garments are made by a specialist factory in South London, who we have worked with for over seven years.
Do you offer rush orders?
We understand that sometimes your wedding date may be approaching sooner than our standard lead time.
Where our production schedule allows, we can accommodate rush orders with a 20% rush fee. Rush orders must be agreed with us before placing your order, and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate every request.
If you require your garment in less than 10 weeks, please contact us with your wedding date and we can advise on availability.
Alterations
Can my garment be altered?
Yes. Once your garment is complete, alterations can be made if required.
Complimentary adjustments to hem and sleeve length are included. Additional alterations are charged separately, depending on the work required.
Alterations can take up to 3 weeks, depending on our studio capacity, so we recommend allowing sufficient time before your wedding day.
Bespoke
What is the bespoke service?
Our bespoke service allows you to work directly with our design team to create a made-to-measure wedding dress.
This can include developing a completely new design, making significant changes to an existing Cawley style, or creating a piece specifically around your measurements and requirements.
Bespoke pieces require additional development and production time, so the lead time will be longer than our standard 10-week bridal lead time. We will confirm the estimated timeline with you before you place your order.
Bespoke bridal appointments are £100 and our bespoke service starts from £2,000.
Payments & Returns
How do I pay for my garment?
Full payment is required when your order is placed.
Can I return or exchange my bridal garment?
As each bridal garment is made to order specifically for you, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.
For this reason, we encourage you to take advantage of our studio appointments to ensure you are happy with your chosen style, size and any adjustments before placing your order.
